RIM sells out of PlayBooks after slashing prices in India

RIM's PlayBook tablet has sold out in India after its price was cut in half.

While it is struggling to keep its products relevant in North America, Research in Motion says that it has sold out its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet in India after cutting the price for the tablet computer in half.

Canada-based Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) operates it U.S. headquarters in Irving.

The Economic Times reported that company said that it sold more than 12,000 of the tablets in four days since it announced a limited festive season offer for the 16- and 32-gigabyte tablets that ended Dec. 31.

Fresh supplies of the tablet were on the way and the company said it was extending the offer for a week.
